Creating Videos to Support STEM Learning
Michigan City Area Schools (MCAS), in partnership with Purdue University North Central (PNC), has created a unique opportunity to enhance STEM education through teacher/student created Problem-Based Videos. This project builds on the previous Indiana Mathematics and Science Partnership grant, Conceptual Algebra Readiness for Everyone (CARE) and is designed to deepen student understanding of STEM concepts through active engagement.
Specifically, the project will develop videos similar to the Dan Meyer videos that are problem based and grounded in real world settings. The videos are designed to foster students’ curiosity, providing them with the motivation to develop rich and deeper conceptual understandings in the STEM fields. One of the strengths of this integrated approach is that the development of algebraic concepts, grounded in real-life, hands-on science, engineering, and technology experiences.
